Churchton man dies in Edgewater collision
A 59-year-old man was killed after he lost control of the malfunctioning car he was driving and collided with a pickup truck in Edgewater, Anne Arundel County police said yesterday. Edward A. Crayle of the 5500 block of Franklin Blvd. in Churchton was driving a 1990 Chevrolet Lumina on Old Pike Road about 6:45 p.m. Monday when the steering and possibly the accelerator gave out, police said. As Crayle approached Route 2, he repeatedly honked his horn to warn other motorists that he had lost control of his car. He crossed the double yellow line on Old Pike Road and drove into the intersection against a red light, police said. The pickup struck the driver's side of the car, police said. Crayle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup, Karen L. Cleek, 47, of the 1200 block of Delaware Ave. in Churchton was treated for minor injuries.
